Event Overview
Essentials Webinar Series is a programme of webinars – broadcast live – providing expert specialist clinical training and essential information. These webinars are recorded live and are available for delegates to access freely for six months after the webinar date.
As GPs, we frequently encounter children and young people with concerns about possible neurodivergence, yet defining our role in their journey can be complex due to long NHS waiting lists, private assessment pathways, and multi-agency involvement. It’s not always clear what we can do beyond referral and asking other providers to help with unmet needs. This session will equip GPs with practical strategies to enhance care and make a meaningful difference in the lives of neurodivergent children and their families.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Recognise key neurodivergent traits in children and understand their impact on development and daily life
- Understand the GP’s role in supporting neurodivergent children and their families beyond referral and signposting
- Identify how early assessment contributes to effective triage for secondary care and facilitates the diagnosis journey
- Explore the role of social prescribing in providing interim support for children and families awaiting further assessment
- Discuss challenges in diagnosis and prescribing, including the use of ADHD and sleep medications
