Looking after your wellbeing is crucial in these trying times - the BMA offers its own wellbeing services and also signposts to a range of other organisations services, websites and helplines.
NHS Practitioner Health is a confidential NHS service for GPs and GP trainees in England. The Service can help doctors with issues relating to a mental health concern, including stress or depression, or an addiction problem, in particular where these might affect work. (Practitioner Health is not a service for individuals with mental health problems which require specialist psychiatric input though it can help provide additional support where it can).
An independent, confidential, peer-support network for doctors and medical students with mental health concerns including stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychoses and eating disorders. Offers an online, confidential, anonymous support forum. Aims to improve wellbeing of doctors by safely connecting them with other medics with similar concerns.
The Sick Doctors Trust provides support and help for doctors, dentists and medical students who are concerned about their use of drugs or alcohol.
Doctors in Distress are dedicated to protecting mental health and stopping suicide in health workers. They provide confidential facilitated support groups, webinars, workshops and programmes.
FREE online drop-in group for clinicians interested in mindfulness meditation - connect with others and practice together. Still Practising also produce podcasts and other events.
A new podcast to help clinicians at this difficult time when so many are struggling, burnt out or moving to Australia. A medical benevolent fund that supports current and retired GPs, as well as their families, in times of financial distress, whether through ill-health, disability, death or loss of employment. This includes both those who are already suffering from financial hardship and those who are facing it.
The RMBF provides support for doctors and their families through all stages of their career and beyond. Their help ranges from financial assistance in the form of grants and loans to a telephone befriending scheme for those who may be isolated and in need of support.
