Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Training Hub (CPTH) has been successful in securing funding, from Health Education England (HEE) to support the employment of PTPTs in the C&P area since 2020 and are supporting practices and system partners to take on these roles as individual organisations and through cross-sector partnerships.
Some of our existing partnerships include hospital, primary care and community and we are currently supporting 17 PTPTs (of which 15 are apprentices) across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and as a result we have garnered a wealth of knowledge in supporting cross sector, rotational apprenticeships and those staff on the training program.

What funding is available and how can it be used?
To support the urgent need to increase the pharmacy technician workforce, HEE is offering a financial contribution to support sites in developing a PTPT programme, that meets the HEE quality framework. The offer is a contribution of:
Year 1 – £9,500
Year 2 – £9,500
The funding can be used flexibly and is intended to contribute to the cost of developing and running a two-year programme. The contribution may be used towards the cost of salary, infrastructure costs such as practice supervision and/or educational supervision or any other costs associated with the PTPT successfully completing this training programme/apprenticeship.
If you are interested in recruiting or upskilling staff into the role of Pharmacy Technician and would like to be considered for a funded place, please contact us at candptraininghub@nhs.net
