SL Faculty First5 Lead Dr Lai will be hosting a forum for sessional GPs to discuss their current workplace and workload demands, and facilitate problem solving.

General Practice is facing a seemingly insurmountable workload with individual and team burnout only a staff absence or complaint away, so its vital for all of us that we share good practice.

Discussions with First5 members has elucidated the wide differences between how practices are run: timetables, expectations, on call duties, etc.

So this will be an opportunity for Sessional GPs to have a better understanding of how different practices work across the area and be able to take back improvements on how to deal with various challenges.

The aim will be to bring examples of work issues as well as discuss local initiatives and innovative solutions to combat the increasing demands on General Practice and improve your workplace.

Clinicians had discussed in the RCGP SL First5 WhatsApp Group providing shared examples of their workplace issues during the session (with professional courtesy), but if people would prefer some semblance of anonymity, they could email Dr Lai their work issue examples to be shared anonymously on the day as a worked example.

Each practice is unique, faces a host of different challenges and has its own individual solutions but as the future workforce, we can influence and collaborate together to ensure General Practice is innovative, enjoyable and sustainable!

After the talk there will be the opportunity to ask questions.

All First5s are welcome and GPs at all career stages – including non-members.

Zoom link to access the talk will only be circulated few hours before the talk starts
