The HEE national Learning Disabilities and Autism programme team is collaborating with HEE’s Advancing Practice team to develop a credential in autism at an advanced practice level.
Development of the credential will build upon existing ‘capabilities frameworks’ for supporting autistic people, which were previously developed during 2019/2020 through a coproduction process involving extension consultation with key stakeholder organisations and people with relevant lived experience.
The aim is for the credential to be delivered from the autumn of 2022, and hence this project is a high priority with a tight timescale.
As part of this development work, we are now inviting individuals to participate in consultation workshops. There are two workshops with a slightly different focus
- A workshop will take place on Tuesday 1st March between 10:00 am to 12:00 pm focusing on the views of representatives from autistic people, their family members, carers and representative organisations.
- A workshop will take place on Friday 11th of March between 12:00 pm to 14:00 pm focusing on the views of Higher Education establishments who may be delivering the autism credential and also employers focusing on the provision of autism services and support to help ensure it meets their needs.
Both events will be virtual and of 2 hours duration to review the draft credential and to invite comments and feedback. Further information about this project is at: https://skillsforhealth.org.uk/info-hub/autism-credential
If you would be interested to attend the workshop, please provide your contact details to learning.disability@hee.nhs.uk and we will be in touch with further details.
