About the event

Everyone in healthcare has an important role to play in empowering neurodiverse patients and colleagues once recognised, with or without a formal diagnosis.

But when it comes to healthcare staff, many of us have been trained to think about neurological differences using a deficit model. Such a model, which can often focus almost exclusively on a person’s impairments and challenges, can lead us to see that person as the challenge, rather than a more balanced view that includes the environment around them.

As healthcare systems work hard to increase representation for many aspects of diversity, this should also be true of diverse minds!

In partnership with NHS Employers, please join us for an exciting panel discussion on Neurodiversity in Healthcare.

Please note that this event is from an external source. The information was correct when added to the website.

Specifically, we will cover:

  • Recognising the social context of neurodiversity and how it is helpful
  • Understanding the strengths, challenges, and pathways for neurodiverse colleagues
  • The importance of not separating the person from the label
  • How to provide high-quality services to individuals
  • Thoughtful and inclusive environmental design

As this is a panel discussion, there will be lots of time for questions and interaction with you!

This is a free online event via Zoom.
