Essentials Webinar Series is a programme of 1.5 hour webinars – broadcast live – providing expert specialist clinical training and essential information. These webinars are recorded live and are available for delegates to access freely for six months after the webinar date.

This series of two online webinars will look at assessing and managing women’s mental health before, during and after pregnancy. The programme will help all those who attend gain an understanding of recognising, treating and talking to patients about every aspect of mental health in all stages of the perinatal period.

Part 1 | What and why?

This webinar will focus on increasing the awareness and recognition of mental illness during the perinatal period and the various barriers which may impact on this. We will explore the various diagnoses and how they might present in practice.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the prevalence and impact of untreated perinatal mental illness
  • Recognise common presentations within primary care and how we can improve detection rates
  • Consider the barriers which may prevent timely and appropriate management of perinatal mental illness
  • Gain confidence in making a diagnosis of perinatal anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and postpartum psychosis.
