HEE are pleased to announce their second conference on antimicrobial resistance, infections, deterioration and sepsis.

The conference will:

  • Highlight system interventions to improve the competence and training of the workforce
  • Showcase work done on workforce development, education and training
  • Raise awareness of and support the uptake of available educational resources

This event will showcase educational interventions developed through the HEE innovation training fund 2018-19, supporting the improvement of outcomes on antimicrobial resistance, infections, deterioration and sepsis.

The education of the workforce on the proper use of antimicrobials and the containment of antimicrobial resistance is of critical importance because of the threats posed to the future of modern medicine.

Healthcare staff also need to be able to effectively recognise and respond to sepsis, a potentially life-threatening condition affecting an estimated 150,000 people per year in the UK and is a significant cause of preventable morbidity and mortality.

We are working to enhance system awareness of AMR and sepsis learning materials. This builds on the work to embed national competencies into curricula, prescriber training, regional focus groups and questionnaires to understand the issues facing AMR and sepsis training, whilst highlighting areas of good practice.
