Essentials Webinar Series is a programme of 1.5 hour webinars – broadcast live – providing expert specialist clinical training and essential information. These webinars are recorded live and are available for delegates to access freely for six months after the webinar date.

This webinar features an oncology specialist and acute oncology viewpoint of cancer care and emergency presentations to Primary Care. The session will focus on what to assess and investigate when reviewing both curative and metastatic cancer patients in a primary care setting, the management of oncology and palliative care emergencies, and the newer toxicities we are experiencing as a result of expanded use of newer immunotherapy and targeted therapy treatments.

Learning objectives:

  1.  To understand what oncologists would focus on when assessing or reviewing a cancer patient in primary care.
  2.  Immediate management of emergency presentations at home or the surgery (before assessment in acute oncology or in a palliative patient who does not want admission)
  3.  An overview of how supportive cancer care is changing as a result of new treatments (immunotherapy/targeted therapies) and how the toxicities of these treatments may present.
