One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer sometime in their lifetime. These patients will present in your primary care practice often, making general practice a fundamental part in achieving good outcomes for cancer patients.
The NHS long-term plan is to diagnose 75% of cancers during stage 1 or 2, because diagnosing cancer as early as we can will improve the life chances of these patients. Our conference will cover the knowledge you need in order to improve cancer care in your everyday clinical practice, including new innovations to further enhance the care you offer. We will present you with a wide range of topics including the evidence base for urgent referrals and non-specific symptom pathways, safety netting tips and tools, latest advances in cancer testing/detection (including multi-cancer early detection tests), a specific focus on haematological cancer updates for GPs, supporting patients living with cancer including palliative and end of life care. Finally, we will look to the latest hot topics and the potential future role of GPs and primary care in cancer.
All live One Day Essentials conferences (ODEs) are free and available exclusively to RCGP members. Check your diary, register to attend, or if you can’t make it access the content on REWIND. You can catch up on all the recordings and presentation slides for up to nine months afterwards, and you can register at any point during this time.
Note: we endeavour to upload content as quickly as possible after the conference; this typically takes up to two weeks.
