A revised local varicose veins clinical policy has recently been published. The main aim of the changes is to allow quicker access to surgery for patients who have venous disease causing pre-ulcerative skin changes. Also to implement local expert opinion from recent evidence that has shown that Superficial Venous Thrombosis is of much more clinical significance than previously appreciated.

The main topics covered will be:

  • Management of Thrombophlebitis
  • Venous disease associated with skin changes at high risk of ulceration
  • General venous pathology
  • Referral process and exceptional funding applications
