Drive through spirometry service, with Melanie Bryce, Chief Respiratory Physiologist and Kelly Pauley, Head of Respiratory Investigations both from North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

NWAFT launched a drive through spirometry service in September. This service is among the first in the country to provide a service like this. The drive-through clinics allow patients to have a lung function test without leaving their car. It has been put in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19 to clinically extremely vulnerable patients and those shielding. This has also allowed the service to reduce waiting times and backlog.

This webinar will go through the commissioning, risks including health and safety and infection control concerns, benefits of the service including patient and staff feedback and how to adapt and adopt the process within your region.

Key learning points:

  1. How to risk assess your service for this service
  2. How to commission a service locally
  3. What staff do you need to provide?
  4. What facilities do you need available?
  5. Patient feedback and how to obtain this
