Event Overview
One Day Essentials is a series of one day conferences – all available broadcast live online – with some also available in-person – providing expert specialist clinical training and essential information. These conferences are recorded live and the sessions will be available for delegates to access freely on our e-learning platform for six months from the conference date.*
*Please note we endeavour to upload content as quickly as possible after the conference, but it typically takes 1-2 weeks.
Join us on Wednesday 29 November 2023 for the return of our One Day Essentials Gastroenterology conference. This one-day interactive online conference will cover a range of Gastrointestinal health topics designed to support GPs in improving patient care.
Gastroenterology is one of the major medical specialties and accounts for 10% of all appointments in Primary Care. The British Society of Gastroenterologists (BSG) estimate that 90% of patients with GI disorders are managed in Primary Care.
The aims of this conference are to update delegates on the emerging issues, such as the new FIT guidelines and the management of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, as well as the more common presentations of GI conditions like dysphagia and change in bowel habit. By the end of the day, you will have more confidence in investigating and managing patients presenting with GI and liver problems, which will improve patient care, result in less referrals to gastroenterology services and benefit service issues around the provision of endoscopy.
Topics:
Upper GI
- Dysphagia, 2-week wait upper GI pathway (including Edinburgh dysphagia score)
- Eosinophilic oesophagitis
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and dyspepsia.
Lower GI
- Management of change in bowel habit
- 2-week wait lower GI pathway and use of FIT
- Functional bowel disorders (IBS)
- Management of iron deficiency anaemia
