HCA Clinical Skills
This event is face to face. You will also need to bring your own lunch.
The theory and practice of the HCA role in Primary Care. Includes accountability, supervision, legal frameworks and practical workshops for a range of clinical skills.
All delegates will participate in a skills workshop to learn and practice the necessary skills.
On completion of the course, all delegates will have to undergo a period of supervised practice in their workplace and formal assessment of competency.
Review of:
- The law relating to practice, accountability and delegation
- The relevant anatomy, physiology and various disease processes involved in the procedures
- Measurement of:
- Pulse
- Temperature
- Respirations
- Blood Pressure
- Blood Glucose
- Peak Flow
- Urinalysis
- Pulse Oximetry
- Basics of ECG recording
- Documentation and record keeping
- How to achieve competence
- Supervision
- The role of your mentor
- How to maintain competencies by regular practice and updates
- Recognition of their limitations and know where to seek help and advice as necessary
