Giving children and young people a voice and influence in your organisation can help deliver more effective, efficient and targeted services whilst nurturing an organisational culture of collaboration and participation.

The Public Participation Team at NHS England and NHS Improvement are pleased to be able to offer this free Open Space Workshop for you to support each other and gain insight from each other’s practice and experience, all designed around the issues that you want to talk about.  Under the overarching theme of ‘Engaging Children and Young People’, you will have the opportunity to shape the workshop by suggesting and prioritising topics beforehand. As such, you will be able to join the workshop presented with a series of helpful ‘open space’ sessions that you can choose to participate in.

Each session will be led by a member of the group willing to act as a host for the topic and supported by colleagues from the NHS England and NHS Improvement Public Participation Team. This will allow for a lively discussion in a safe and supportive environment for you to share your views, expertise and to work together to find solutions to barriers you may be facing.

This workshop is aimed at people with existing knowledge of working with people and communities, but it doesn’t matter if you have years of experience specifically engaging with children and young people or you are new to this work – all views and perspectives will contribute to building a bank of key insights on each topic that will be gathered and shared after the session.  The workshop is suitable for staff at all levels of an organisation who wish to develop their practice and understanding around engaging with children and young people.
