Register with a GP Surgery (GPREG) is the nationally mandated digital registration solution provided by NHS England for all general practices in England. GPREG has fully digitised and standardised the registration process across every practice and branch, making it easier, faster and more secure for patients and staff.
Streamlining Practice Workflows
GPREG is now introducing new national initiatives designed to eliminate the need for manual data transfer from registration submissions into GP clinical systems. The first of these — the Automatic Registration feature — is available free of charge and automatically migrates eligible patient data directly into the clinical system. This includes creating the patient record, assigning a GP, accepting the registration and issuing confirmation to the patient.
For submissions meeting the defined criteria, the complete process typically finishes within 30 minutes, representing a significant step forward in reducing administrative workload across primary care.
We will cover:
- How to integrate GPREG into streamlined admin pathways
- Reducing duplication and unnecessary manual steps
- Linking registration to NHS App onboarding, messaging and digital communications
- Ensuring staff roles and responsibilities reflect the new automated processes
Our aim is to help practices maximise the impact of GPREG and unlock meaningful time savings for admin teams.
