Event Overview
We would like to invite you to join our RE-LAUNCH of our Minor Surgery Skills | Refresher (includes DOPS) course in England.
Facilitated by enthusiastic GPs with extended skills and experience, this RCGP course has been designed for those already performing minor surgery who want to revisit their skills and knowledge base. Fully updated for 2022/23, the refresher course covers a broad spread of challenges and tips for trouble free minor surgery including: assessment and diagnosis of skin cancer (and cancer mimics), how to judge risk in surgical sites and more advanced suturing techniques with videos and individual tutoring. In addition, the course gives a brief introduction to dermoscopes, their benefits and limitations.
This RCGP course has been specifically designed to ensure experienced practitioners meet the requirements of the 2014 DES Minor Surgery Contract and has been approved by NHS England (formulated from the latest NHS e-guidelines) to do so. This highly practical and interactive course also features the Direct Observations of Procedural Skills (DOPS) Assessment (desired by NHS England for all GPs already practising and looking to re-accredit to continue to practise minor surgery in England – unless you perform more than 100 minor surgery procedures per year.)
To continue practising minor surgery the NHS requires GPs to attend an update course such as this every three years. Aimed as a refresher at GPs who are already experienced in providing skin minor surgery, this educational activity is considered to be of high quality and relevant for general practitioners CPD Revalidation and DOPS assessment needs.
