The Home Office published the statutory Serious Violence Duty in December 2022, which came into effect in 31st of January 2023. The Duty is encompassed in the Police Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act, 2022 (PCSC) as part of the Governments approach to prevent and reduce serious violence.
To support primary care in meeting this statutory requirement, free gang and serious violence awareness virtual training for safeguarding leads has been resourced by NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board and funded by the Home Office. This is a unique opportunity to engage with experts in this field, strengthen your safeguarding practice, and become more skilled in identifying and safely responding to concerns.

Once a place has been confirmed participants will be required to complete a short pre and post questionnaire, thank you.
The virtual link will be sent to professionals nearer the time of the training.
The training will cover the following:
- gang culture, serious youth violence and associated behaviours
- gang activity within the community
- how to recognise key warning signs
- the victim/offender overlap
- child criminal exploitation (CCE) and County Lines
- the stages of grooming and exploitation (using an interactive case study)
- the link between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), later vulnerabilities, and exploitation
- strategies to safeguard and manage associated risk
