Specifically designed for General Practice Nurses, this NHSE funded course is aimed at practitioners who are looking to know more about Patient Activation and how it can benefit patients with long term conditions.

On completion of the course, each nurse will be a PAM Ambassador within their locality with transferable knowledge and skills. This extended skill-set will enable them to engage with their patients to become more activated while supporting colleagues to effectively implement PAM. Activated patients have been shown to benefit from better health outcomes, improved experiences of care and fewer unplanned admissions.

The programme will include:

  • A Train the Trainer two day workshop
  • A Coaching and Supervision two day workshop
  • Two one hour webinars

On our Coaching and Supervision workshop you will learn to:

  • Demonstrate elements of clinical consultation skills
  • Demonstrate flexible and tailored communication skills
  • Implement motivational interviewing
  • Effectively encourage self-management
  • Provide coaching and supervision skills in practice including definition, benefits and types of coaching
  • Understand emotional intelligence
  • About cognitive behavioural therapy
  • About the fundamentals of best practice in supervision
