Funded by Training Hub and in partnership with The Medicines Optimisation Team, we are hosting the first Face to Face all day event for Pharmacy teams across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS.

The event is open to all PCN and Practice Pharmacy Teams – both Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians (including apprentices) keen to update their knowledge, understand the latest updates, network with their peers from across the clinical pharmacy community and share their experiences.

The day will cover a wide range of subjects including information on lipid prescribing as well as information and tools to support you in your daily work.

Nutrition Product Prescribing: Babies, Tubes and Milkshakes – Sarah Britten

The session will provide an overview of the three most commonly queried topics in nutrition, where to seek advice and how to escalate concerns. With so many types and varieties of nutritional products guidance will be provided on what products are equivalent and interchangeable, as well as a clear step by step approach to appropriately discontinuing prescriptions during structured medication reviews.

Medication Queries: Where to find the answers – Jayshri Patel and Hannah Winterman

In this focus session we will be covering medicine shortages, responding to medication enquiries including the resources available to support with answering queries and we will provide an overview of the prescribing classification system on net Formulary.

As CPTH Clinical Pharmacist Ambassador I am here to provide guidance and support not only to clinical pharmacists but also to practice managers/GPs in respective PCNs, promoting the successful integration of pharmacist in primary care. My role includes providing interdisciplinary leadership to facilitate training, resources, adequate staffing, as well as to prepare both clinical pharmacists and the providers they support, to expanded clinical pharmacists’ scopes of practice and capabilities.

Amanda Downs

Amanda Downs (Mandie)  works  as the Specialist Technician for Education and Training for the Medicines Optimisation team. To provide education and training and 1:1 Support for all practice and PCN staff across C&P ICS. As well as supporting on various professional forums such as the ACP and Nurses forum to provide prescribing updates.

She is also currently the lead for Stoma and Continence in the Medicines optimisation team and have been working very closely with specialist nurses across all three trusts to finalise system wide formularies for both stoma and continence.

Judith is a Senior Pharmacist for Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes. She has an interest in dementia, and deprescribing.

Sarah Britten

Lead Dietitian
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICB

Sarah is the Lead dietitian for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICB, her role involves optimising prescribing and patient pathways involving nutritional products including vitamins& minerals, tube feeds and oral nutritional supplements.

Her background is in paediatric neurodevelopmental disorders but has also worked in community nutrition support and obesity management. Sarah is the chair for the British dietetic association prescribing specialist group and uses her expertise as a member of the department of health ACBS committee advising on prescribing of nutrition products, and the NICE committee for weight management guidance review.

My name is Jayshri Patel, I work as the Prescribing Partnership Pharmacist within the Medicines Optimisation Team at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS). The Prescribing Partnership Service is a clinical enquiry service related to all aspects of medicines and the service is accessible to all NHS health care professionals in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS. I also have an active role in the systemwide out of stock shortage group where I lead on the coordination and dissemination of information related to drug shortages and alerts. In both roles, I am involved in working with other healthcare professionals across the system to produce guidance and share best practice across the area.

Hannah Winterman

My name is Hannah Winterman, I work as the Prescribing Partnership Specialist Pharmacy Technician within the Medicines Optimisation Team at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS). The Prescribing Partnership Service is a clinical enquiry service related to all aspects of medicines and the service is accessible to all NHS health care professionals in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS. I have a role in the upkeep of the net formulary system that we use in the ICS and help in the systemwide out of stock shortage group where I investigate current medication shortages and alerts. I also report the monthly data from the prescribing partnership service and investigate any current trends/themes from this. I also am involved in working with other healthcare professionals across the system to produce guidance and share best practice across the area.
