One Day Essentials is a series of one day online conferences – broadcast live – providing expert specialist clinical training and essential information. These conferences are recorded live and the sessions will be available for delegates to access freely for six months from the conference date.

Respiratory care is a major part of our workload in general practice and an area of medicine where we can make huge positive differences to patients’ lives in primary care. The way we prescribe can also help sustainable practice. The equivalent to 1 person every 8 minutes dies of respiratory disease in the UK. Asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia are the main cause of winter pressures on the NHS. Health outcomes from respiratory disease in comparison to cardiovascular disease and stroke show there is much more scope to level up. Mortality can be three times higher in those from under 75s from lower socioeconomic groups including environmental stressors. The importance of good prevention and intervention coupled with changing guidelines and pharmacotherapy can make management of respiratory health bewildering. We hope that by the end of the recordings you will feel more confident in facing up to these challenges.
