Miss Suzanne Biers, Consultant Urologist, BSc, MBBS, MD, FRCS Uro

“I have been a Urological Consultant Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital for over eight years. I am an expert in general urology, female and male urinary symptoms and incontinence, urinary tract infections, urethral stricture diseases and reconstruction of the urinary tract. I accept referrals from across the East of England. I have completed fellowships in urogynaecology, female and function urology and reconstruction.

I perform a wide range of general urological operations including circumcision, hydrocele repair, and bladder operations for blood in the urine, cancer and stones. I sub-specialise in treating bothersome urinary symptoms in men and women, as well as urinary incontinence in men and women, surgery for prostate enlargement, urethral stricture disease, and also reconstruction (treatment of urethral cysts, ureteric strictures) and neurolourology conditions. I offer a comprehensive service for urinary tract infections, cystitis and painful bladder problems.

I run weekly operation lists at Addenbrooke’s covering a wide spectrum of general urology and sub-specialist operating. All work is reviewed in a monthly audit of practice and is presented to the urology department.

I am Clinical Lead for Bladder Outlet Surgery/Male lower urinary tract symptoms group, Addenbrooke’s Hospital. I have been the lead for both Junior and senior urological trainees for the last eight years at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and now continue to support and act as an educational supervisor.

In addition to my clinical work, I am proud to be the Clinical Lead for the Cambridge Urology Masters Degree Programme, Deputy Training Programme Director for East of England Urology, and a member of the executive committee for BAUS. I am Course Director for several lecture based and practical urological training courses which attract national and international delegates. I am an author of seven different textbooks in urology and surgery.”
