Stop Smoking Level 2 training equips staff with the knowledge and practical skills to support people who smoke through effective conversations and evidence-based interventions.

The session covers nicotine addiction, behaviour change approaches and treatment options, enabling participants to confidently deliver Very Brief Advice (Ask, Advise, Act) and signpost into local stop smoking services.

Stop Smoking training is suitable for healthcare professionals, community workers and frontline staff who support people to improve their health, including those working in housing, VCSFE organisations and wellbeing roles.

Participants will learn how to:

  • explain the health impacts of smoking and benefits of quitting
  • understand nicotine addiction and withdrawal symptoms
  • deliver Very Brief Advice (Ask, Advise, Act) confidently
  • use carbon monoxide (CO) monitoring to support quit attempts
  • understand the role of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)
  • discuss vaping as a harm reduction approach
  • recognise readiness to quit and respond appropriately
  • refer into Healthy You Stop Smoking services

For organisations, Stop Smoking training supports staff to raise smoking in a supportive and non-judgemental way, helping people access effective treatment earlier. Evidence shows that brief advice significantly increases quit attempts, contributing to improved health outcomes and reduced health inequalities.
