Due to contract changes we are only able to offer this training to those who work within Cambridgeshire.

We are no longer commissioned to provide this training to those who work within Peterborough.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training provides participants with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to recognise when someone may be experiencing poor mental health and respond in a supportive and appropriate way. Delivered using the internationally recognised MHFA England approach, the course explores common mental health conditions, supportive communication techniques, crisis response and signposting to appropriate support services.

Participants will learn how to:

  • recognise signs and symptoms of poor mental health
  • approach conversations with confidence and empathy
  • listen non-judgementally and provide reassurance
  • apply the MHFA action plan (ALGEE)
  • respond appropriately in crisis situations
  • encourage professional support and self-help strategies
  • understand boundaries and the role of a Mental Health First Aider
  • promote positive mental wellbeing and challenge stigma
  • maintain personal wellbeing and self-care

MHFA training is suitable for anyone working with people, including managers, frontline staff, healthcare professionals, housing providers, VCSFE organisations, education staff and workplace wellbeing leads.
