NHS England’s National Estates Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) Team invite you to attend a webinar briefing on the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act, more commonly known as Martyn’s Law.
About the legislation
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act places a legal duty on certain premises and events to take proportionate steps to reduce the risk of harm in the event of a terrorist attack.
This will include healthcare settings, meaning many NHS sites will be subject to new legal requirements. Compliance will be overseen by the newly established regulator, Security Industry Authority (SIA).
It is important to note that the Act has not yet been implemented and is not expected to come into force before April 2027.
The webinar will include:
- An overview from the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) on updated tools and resources to support planning
- Insights from NHS Trust colleagues on their preparedness activities for the Act
- A demonstration of an NHS Trust-developed tool to support planning and preparedness
- Feedback from a Trust-led NaCTSO workshop package
