Individuals from ethnic minority communities may face additional cultural and social barriers to disclosing gambling-related harms or seeking support. Shame, stigma, fear of judgement and concerns about family or community reputation can lead to secrecy and delayed help-seeking.

As a result, people may present only when harms have become severe, including debt, relationship breakdown, mental health difficulties, safeguarding concerns and risk of self-harm or suicide.

This webinar will help primary care teams to:

  • Recognise how gambling harms may present
  • Understand the impact of shame, stigma and cultural barriers
  • Ask about gambling sensitively and without judgement
  • Identify risk and respond safely
  • Support earlier access to treatment
  • Implement NICE guideline NG248 in practice
