Parents coming to GPs with worries around whether their child may be autistic are common in General Practice. There is probably increased awareness around autism amongst the public which requires us as GPs to be adept at navigating around the questions we receive around possible autism, its management and the support available in the community.

In this webinar, we will be looking at how we can deal with parents’ queries around a possible autism diagnosis; referral pathways; and what support there is out there for us as GPs, as well as for parents and children.

Learning objectives:

  1. How to assess for suspected autism in Primary Care
  2. Be better equipped in dealing with parents’ queries around autism
  3. Understanding what happens once children are referred to secondary care for suspected autism
  4. Improve awareness of what services/support is available for autistic children and their families
