First Contact Practitioner Musculoskeletal (MSK) Stage 1 | 7SCZ2000 | Level 7 | Credits 15 | 2021/22

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, examinations may be replaced by an alternative form of assessment during the academic year 2021/2022.

This on-line course is designed to prepare participants for First Contact Practitioner (FCP) roles in Primary Care. Participants must be experienced HCPC and CSP Registered MSK Physiotherapists with at least 3 years postgraduate experience (within an MSK role) who are working towards an advanced level of practice. Course participants should be intending to start practice as First Contact Practitioners in Primary Care in UK or be working in an FCP role and have the support of their manager and access to an appropriately qualified Clinical Supervisor i.e. one that is the list of verified Advanced Practice supervisors held by the Centre of Advancing Practice.

Prior to enrolment, participants must have successfully completed the 11 e-learning modules developed by Health Education England in relation to First Contact Practice in Primary Care.

This module forms part of a broader CPD framework that can lead to the award of Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s degree.

Once students have passed, they will need to apply for ‘First Contact Practitioner Musculoskeletal Stage 2’ (dates TBC)

Deadlines:

The deadline for applications is 9am 1st December 2021.

Decisions regarding places on the course will be made by 15th December 2021.

PreRequisites

  • HCPC Registration
  • Minimum of 3 years Musculoskeletal experience
  • Currently employed in a Musculoskeletal role
  • Completion of the 8 MSK HEE Primary Care e-portfolio modules
  • Completion of all 3 HEE Primary Care personalised care e-portfolio modules:
  • Shared Decision Making
  • Personalised care and support planning
  • Core skills
  • Successful completion of prior MSc (level 7) modules with an emphasis on Musculoskeletal Assessment and Management
  • HEE accredited clinical supervisor for clinical supervision within Primary Care (for FCP2)
  • Up to date mandatory training in BLS
  • Up to date mandatory training in Safeguarding adults and children
  • Support from line manager
  • Commitment to attend FCP 2 (on-line)

Written assignment 100% submitted electronically on 26th April 2022
