This GP education session with Professor Stephen Barclay is being delivered as part of the CPTH GP Education Programme. It is open to GPs and ACPs working in Primary Care in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The goals of the session are to increase confidence and understanding of the management of palliative care patients and to improve understanding of and ability to access appropriate services.
The session will provide a Palliative Care overview and update including:
- Top tips in prescribing in Palliative and End of Life Care
- Managing patients in COVID times
- Having difficult conversations including ReSPECT
- Accessing community services and recent services developments
- Small group discussions of difficult cases
- Q+A session – an opportunity to discuss difficult cases or scenarios encountered

Speakers:
Professor Stephen Barclay is a practicing GP and Honorary Consultant Physician in Palliative Medicine at the Arthur Rank Hospice. He is Associate Professor of Palliative and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge and Honorary Professor at the University of East Anglia. He is the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS Clinical Lead for End of Life Care.
Carly Wills is Matron of Clinical Services at Arthur Rank Hospice and a Senior Community Palliative Care Nurse.
