Climate change is the biggest health threat currently facing humanity, and it’s already affecting us and our patients. The good news is that the actions we need to take to tackle the climate crisis also have significant benefits for our patient’s health, as well as the potential to boost staff morale and save money. In this series of webinars, we’ll be sharing top tips for positive climate action within general practice.
This first session focuses on “Air pollution and high-quality low-carbon asthma care”. In this session, we’ll cover the effects of air pollution and extreme heat on human health and how we can best protect our patients. We’ll also share guidance from the Greener Practice Asthma toolkit on how to provide optimal asthma care for both patients and the planet.
Future monthly sessions will include financial savings to be made/carbon literacy: Green Impact for Health Toolkit: Medicines, the ocean, and deprescribing; Low carbon alternatives – blue/green prescribing, physical activity, plant-based diet; Opportunities for sustainable healthcare roles/ how to overcome barriers to involvement and Sustainable QI/myth busting and resources.
