Event Overview
Essentials Webinar Series is a programme of 1.5 hour webinars – broadcast live – providing expert specialist clinical training and essential information. These webinars are recorded live and are available for delegates to access freely for six months after the webinar date.
Join us on Tuesday 13th February 2024 as we look into a clinical update on the management of persistent physical symptoms (previously known as medically unexplained symptoms or functional disorders) in general practice.
Persistent physical symptoms such as chronic pain, fatigue and dizziness may account for as many as 1 in 4 presentations in General Practice. They cause physical disability and psychological distress to our patients and financial cost to the NHS. Yet managing these common symptoms can feel confusing and frustrating to the patient and healthcare professional alike.
This EWS will review the latest evidence in the area and consider how we can use language to better explain this challenging diagnosis and work with patients to build management plans that are helpful and hopeful.
Learning objectives:
- To review the latest evidence in persistent physical symptoms
- Consider how we can use language to explain the diagnosis in a way that patients understand and relate to
- Consider how we can work in partnership with patients to build positive management plans which focus on recovery
