Introduction

The study day aims to increase knowledge and understanding of palliative care for people living with dementia.  Explore current research and best practice in advance care planning, symptom control and current themes in palliative and end of life care.

 

This Study Day is aimed at:

Healthcare professionals involved in dementia care and is suitable for registered nurses (acute and community), allied health professionals, hospice staff, healthcare assistants, nursing home staff and students.

In this session learners will:

  • Explore the context of palliative and end of life care for people with dementia.
  • Understand common symptoms at end of life care
  • Learn about positive approaches to distress behaviour
  • Consider the legal aspects to Dementia Care
  • Apply practical aspects of Advance Care Planning
