Essentials Webinar Series is a programme of 1.5-hour webinars – broadcast live – providing expert specialist clinical training and essential information. These webinars are recorded live and are available for delegates to access freely for six months from the webinar date.

This webinar is presented by East Anglia Faculty, and is open to all. This will be a presentation on The Mental Capacity Act 2005 – assessing capacity, the role of the Court of Protection, best interests decisions and recent case law. It will discuss the legal aspect of these and the overlap into health and social care particularly for vulnerable patients who have fluctuating capacity.

Learning objectives:

  1. To understand the legal framework surrounding mental capacity, capacity assessments and lasting powers of attorney
  2. To discuss complex cases in law and health and social care on the topic of mental capacity
  3. To provide GP’s with more confidence in managing patient requests for capacity assessments and where to seek advice for complex cases.
