With general practice in crisis due to workforce shortages, an increasingly complex workload, rising public expectations, and further pressures caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we are providing the time and space for you to reflect, think differently, share and learn.

Join peers and experts from The King’s Fund to explore:

  • what the future of general practice looks like
  • how the experience for patients and staff can be improved
  • how to ensure those actions are building blocks towards the future.

This event is for GPs, commissioners, nurses, practice managers, allied health professionals, Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS)-funded roles, and other professionals working in multidisciplinary general practice teams and those responsible for general practice at place or neighbourhood level.

Workshops

The King’s Fund has a long history of supporting and developing teams working in and across health and care systems, and more recently we have been working with general practices and primary care networks as they develop team-based models of care. In workshops drawing on our experience and expertise, you will be able to work through practical problems that people working in and with general practice are facing today.

These include the following:

  • Creating, leading and sustaining effective teams within general practice.
  • How to make the best use of new roles (for example, social prescribing link workers, physiotherapists, paramedics and pharmacists) and ensure successful implementation and integration.
  • Co-designing teamworking models with patients and carers, and achieving true engagement where local populations co-lead improvement and design initiatives.
  • How to get the best out of digital technologies to improve access, experience and efficiency.
  • Addressing issues around recruitment and retention – adapting to new ways of working; supporting GPs to deliver care they are proud of; and the role of locum and other support staff in addressing backlogs.
  • Embedding a culture where staff wellbeing and psychological health is a priority.
  • How to deal with the issues that working collaboratively ‘at scale’ with neighbouring practices can bring, including working constructively with conflict and encouraging positive and inclusive conversations.
  • The role of general practice within integrated care systems, its future business model and the way it works within the wider health and care system.
  • How to enable progress and transformational change in general practice to achieve longer-term delivery of the future vision.
