The next GP webinar will take place on Thursday 14th December from 5-6pm.

During this webinar, we’ll be talking about Pharmacy First and supporting high risk COPD patients.

Pharmacy First

The recently announced Pharmacy First programme, which aims to free up 10 million GP appointments a year, will be the main focus of December’s webinar.

Designed to be an introduction to the service for GP colleagues, this webinar will provide a general overview and improve awareness of this new service, including:

  • Clinical pathway / PGD development for the seven common infections.
  • Blood pressure and contraception services
  • AMR mitigations.
  • How patients can access this service.
  • Monitoring and reporting.
  • Digital developments to support delivery.

Supporting high risk COPD patients

In alignment with the ‘delivering operational resilience across the NHS this winter letter’, Jonathan Fuld, National Clinical Director for Respiratory and Dr Vince Mak, Imperial College Healthcare Trust and Dr Anna Wilson, GP – Brook Green Medical Centre, outline a practical approach to supporting high risk patients with COPD in winter and year-round.

It is expected that identifying those with rising risk and putting in place processes of care that stop or lessen exacerbations will decrease symptoms that require primary care input, ED attendance or hospital admission.
