Calling all Cambridge and Peterborough GPs over 50.
Our aim is to support one another and look at ways we can develop and sustain the careers of this experienced group of GPs in challenging times.
Please join us for our “In Conversation with Mig and Pat” evening and buffet supper, an opportunity to hear from two colleagues who have carved out a career that works for them as late career GPs. We look forward to hosting Late Career GPs as we explore Pat’s advice of “gradually build work on the areas you enjoy the most and let go of those that you don’t so much”.
Pat Tate is 86, registered with the GMC and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. She went into medicine as a mature student after a career in science, left ordinary General Practice 16 years ago, and continues to work as a volunteer with a local GP practice as their Practice Counsellor. The offer she initially made to the practice was: “Let me see the people you wish you had more time for”. She offers 45-minute appointments one afternoon a week in the practice, with no limit on number of meetings and no waiting list. She also continued work as a psychotherapist.
Mig Arbide, 55 this year, also registered with the GMC, working in the community in NHS GPwSI roles, as a contractor in minor surgery, dermatology and vasectomy, following a 21 year career in mainstream General Practice, mostly as a Partner. Mig used prison medicine as a stepping stone in the transition. He also has a sustainable private practice in open water swimming medicine, which is also his sport and social world, and is involved in teaching all his areas of interest to other health professionals.
This event will be hosted by Paula Newton and includes a light buffet supper.
