Demystifying the GMC – a view from within

Dan has worked at the GMC since 2006, predominantly as a Scottish Policy and External Affairs Officer. Latterly he specialised in education policy and helped to pilot the GMC’s student engagement programme. He has been a GMC Liaison Adviser since February 2019, engaging with frontline doctors, medical students and senior medical stakeholders on the work of the GMC and its guidance. Prior to joining the GMC Dan spent five years as a researcher to Helen Eadie, Member of the Scottish Parliament, supporting her work on the Parliament’s Health Committee. During this time he was seconded part-time to Scotland in Europe, the pro-European cross-party group, as a campaign worker. Before working in the Scottish Parliament Dan was the Parliamentary Officer with Shelter Scotland. This was following several years as a homelessness adviser and support worker.

Dan runs the GMC’s Ceilidh Club. He is the co-founder of an independent think-tank, Nordic Horizons. His hobbies include cycling and canoeing.
