MECC supports staff to have confident, supportive conversations about health and wellbeing during everyday interactions. The session introduces practical behaviour change skills and communication techniques to help staff recognise natural opportunities to signpost people to appropriate support.
MECC is suitable for anyone working with people, including frontline staff, community workers, housing providers, VCSFE organisations and healthcare professionals.
Participants will learn how to:
- recognise opportunities for healthy conversations
- use OARS communication skills (Open questions, Affirmations, Reflections, Summaries)
- understand key principles of behaviour change
- apply health literacy principles to improve engagement
- feel more confident raising health and wellbeing topics
- signpost to relevant local services
For organisations, MECC can help strengthen referral pathways, improve confidence across teams, and support earlier identification of need. Small, supportive conversations can help people access the right support sooner, contributing to improved wellbeing and reduced health inequalities.
