Event Overview

One Day Essentials are full-day online clinical conferences, available free-of-charge to all RCGP members, offering a minimum of 126 hours of CPD per year. All conferences are broadcast live and all session recordings and presentation slides are available to access from RCGP eLearning for up to nine months after the conference (we endeavour to upload content as quickly as possible after the conference, but it typically takes one to two weeks).

Sadly 20% of men won’t live to see their retirement, with many reluctant to seek help for health issues particularly if they are experiencing sexual or mental health concerns. Delaying medical help can lead to problems becoming more serious and difficult to treat. GPs however are usually the first healthcare professionals to be contacted and we have the opportunity to make huge differences in their health outcomes. This year’s online RCGP One Day Essentials Men’s Health conference contains useful information tailored to GPs with practical advice and useful resources that you can use with your patients to maximise their care. Experienced and knowledgeable speakers covered relevant topics and discussed how you can effectively and confidently approach common men’s health problems within your own practice. Each topic and speaker has been selected following feedback from past years to make sure each event is as relevant as possible to your needs. We’ve kept regular slots for erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer and LUTS however new for this year are ejaculatory problems, STIs in men and addiction issues.

Topics include:

  • Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS)
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Testosterone deficiency syndrome in GP
  • PSA and prostate cancer
  • Men and STIs
  • Men and Alcohol/drug abuse
  • Ejaculation problems

Learning objectives:

  • To be able to date and evidenced-based education in Men’s Health for Primary Care
  • To be able to provide practical knowledge and skills aimed at application in day-to-day General Practice
  • To be able to provide interactive learning and thought-provoking information
  • To enable a genuine impact on your future clinical practice and update your current knowledge.

Conference chair:
