This session with cover how (S)MART regimes can and should be used by young people with asthma. The session will discuss the benefits of (S)MART regimes but also when they might not be appropriate.

  1. What a (S)MART regime is
  2. Who would benefit from having a (S)MART regime & giving patients choice
  3. The practicalities of starting a SMART regime

Speaker:

Dr Wanda Kozlowska is a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and clinical lead for the paediatric difficult asthma service at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

She is also the joint clinical lead for the East of England children & young people’s asthma network.

Dr Kozlowska helped develop the current Cambridgeshire  in Peterborough asthma formulary for children and young people and is very keen for teenagers in particular to be given a choice in their inhalers with the aim of finding an inhaler that suits them and that they will use.
