The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill will impose a legal duty on certain premises and events to take steps to reduce the likelihood of physical harm in the event of a terrorist attack. It is intended to ensure public premises and events are better prepared for terrorist attacks, requiring them to take reasonably practicable steps, depending on their capacity, to mitigate the impact of a terrorist attack and reduce physical harm.
It will apply to healthcare settings, which means that, for a number of your sites, this legislation will bring new legal requirements not previously considered necessary. Compliance with this legislation will be overseen by a newly established regulator. The Bill is currently in its final stage in the Lords and may receive Royal Assent in the spring of 2025.
