About the Speaker
Caroline Knott
“I qualified as a children’s nurse in 2002 in Nottingham, where I completed a paediatric rotation across general paediatrics, neurosciences and oncology before moving to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. During my 5 years at GOSH I completed my post reg BSc in children’s cancer nursing whilst working as a staff nurse in the specialty and later completing a year in clinical research.
From 2010 – 2022 I worked at University College London Hospital, as a clinical nurse educator and later advanced nurse practitioner in paediatrics, with a specialist interest in cancer. During this time I completed my MSc children’s advanced nurse practitioner and my PGCert Education, registering as a nurse teacher and independent prescriber.
I was the first ANP in our service and led the development of the new role, and various other service development projects.
After re-locating from London to Cambridgeshire with my young family during covid, I looked for roles closer to home and worked as ward sister of Hinchingbrooke’s Children’s ward, Holly. I quickly began to miss working directly with families and using my advanced practice skills, so I took the leap into general practice in September 2025, joining the duty team at Grove medical practice in St Ives.
Since then, I have completed minor illnesses training and the advanced clinical assessment of adults module. Although I see a wide range of both adults and children, I specialise in managing children presenting to the surgery requiring same day or same week appointments”
