Are you a Registered Nurse moving into General Practice from other parts of the NHS. The Transition into General Practice Programme (Fellowship) is a 1-year programme of support and education to help you transition into your new role. You’ll benefit from a combination of training, mentorship, peer support and clinical supervision, to help you develop your skills and progress your career in General Practice.
Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Training Hub are now able to offer places on the 1-year transition into general practice programme (Fellowship) for any General Practice Nurse who is:
- new to General Practice (not newly qualified)

FUNDED DEVELOPMENT TIME
Practices will receive a financial grant to release Fellows for 4hrs per week to support learning and development. Funding will be calculated pro-rata for Fellows working less than full time.
Fellows will attend the new to practice induction and will be provided with an induction pack.
Fellows will have a personal development plan agreed with their mentor and support from the Training Hub team to develop their skills and competencies set out in their plan.
This will include GPN proficiencies such as immunisations and vaccinations, cervical screening, long-term condition management.
Fellows will attend a monthly peer support and education group to discuss shared experiences, build their understanding of the General Practice working environment and consolidate their learning of new skills.
Fellows will participate in bimonthly group supervision, creating a safe space to reflect on their experiences and development.
Fellows, Practice Mentor and Practice Manager will be invited to an induction to the Transition to General Practice Programme on the 17th January at 10:30am – 12pm.
