Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Partnership brings together key agencies across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough with the aim of reducing the harm, risks and costs associated with domestic abuse and sexual violence and to prevent these crimes occurring.
January 4th 2022 sees the launch of the countywide Health IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor) Team.
The Health IDVA team provide a specialist service to all victims of domestic abuse, across all thresholds of risk, in a bespoke and holistic way to provide practical and emotional support.
There is a very straightforward referral pathway, and a dedicated telephone number (office hours) should you wish to seek advice from a Health IDVA – a ‘phone a friend’.
The team will be accepting referrals from:
- Cambridge City hospitals NHS and non- NHS alike.
- Hinchingbrooke Hospital
- Peterborough City Hospital.
- All midwifery services linked to all countywide hospitals.
- Community Health professionals including GP surgeries, Health Visitors, CPFT workers etc.
Referrals from health professionals only, and all referrals must have informed consent from the patient.
Health professionals are often the first point of contact for people who make initial disclosures of experiencing domestic abuse; the response and offers of support they receive from that first disclosure is crucial to their future safety and well-being. The Health IDVA team can support you as health professionals to respond appropriately to any such DA disclosures.
