
EDI & B Discovery Week – Understanding Why Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Matters

Welcome to our EDI & B Discovery Week, dedicated to building awareness of how equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging can shape patient care and staff experiences, and to inspire meaningful changes that improve general practice for everyone. A week of live, virtual EDI & B themed lunch and learn sessions with additional learning and resources available.
Understanding Why Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Matters
Join us for the opening session of our new EDI&B Discovery Week, where Dr Annette Moyo and Dr Jessica Randall-Carrick will explore the core principles of EDI&B and their relevance to NHS General Practice as well as the regional picture.
Speakers

Dr Annette Moyo
Annete completed her medical degree in Zimbabwe and worked at United Bulawayo Hospitals before moving to the UK. She trained as a General Practitioner and is now a GP Partner in Lincolnshire, a GP Trainer and a Medical Student Tutor at the University of Lincoln. Dr Moyo also serves as Vice-President of the Zimbabwe Doctors Association UK and is Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Training Hub’s Education & Inclusion GP, where she champions equity, representation, and belonging in primary care.

Dr Jessica Randall-Carrick
Jessica works as a GP in Peterborough and co-ordinates the Deep End Network across C&P and the East of England region. She is passionate about improving the health & wellbeing of those in the most challenging socio-economic circumstances and seeks to connect with others to collaborate and advocate for such individuals & communities. Jessica seeks to ensure that systems and processes ensure good quality, equitable, person-centred clinical care. She is the Regional Medical Director Primary Care & System Improvement (NHSEoE), the National Primary Care Medical Directorate Long Term Condition Lead and is also Co-Chair of the Modern Service Framework – Cardiovascular Disease.

Join Mary Lavender, Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, to explore how digital tools and innovations can help overcome barriers, enhance communication, support diverse communities, and create environments where both staff and patients can thrive.
As we bring together the learning from this week, this engaging session with Danny Karystinos will explore examples of inclusive recruitment and reasonable adjustments, providing an opportunity identify simple actions to support EDI & B in Primary Care.
