The term Heart Failure can sound alarming to someone who has just been diagnosed. It can be described as ‘when the heart fails to pump the blood around the body as well as it should do, so it can’t meet the demands of the body’. However do not shy away from using the term. If it is not used and later discovered by the patient in their notes it can be quite a shock.
