Belonging in Practice 6: Race, Ethnicity & Cultural Identity

Last updated Friday 16th October 2026

Live Webinar and Q&A: 23rd September 2026

Speaker: Dr Neda Barzegar-Befroei

This session from our Belonging in Practice series, recorded on 23rd September 2026, addresses the realities of racism and bias in GP roles, including microaggressions from patients and colleagues, differential treatment in complaints and appraisal processes, and the emotional labour of ‘representing’ communities. Discussion explores how racism manifests subtly in everyday practice, the balance between individual coping strategies and organisational responsibility, and what meaningful allyship looks like within practices and PCNs.
